NEW: Analysis of tax breaks for the wealthy in Project 2025

A new analysis reveals that Project 2025 will raise taxes on low- and middle-income households to finance tax cuts for the wealthy and large corporations.

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, the Center for American Progress released a new analysis of tax plans within Project 2025, the conservative plan for the next President and Congress. The analysis highlights how Project 2025 is designed to put the interests of the wealthy and corporations above those of everyday people.

According to the report, Project 2025 would:

  • Raise taxes by $3,000 for the median family of four and $950 for the typical single-person household.
  • Provide an average tax cut of $1.5–2.4 million for the just 45,000 U.S. households making more than $10 million annually.
  • Give a $24 billion tax cut for the Fortune 100, the country’s highest revenue corporations.

“This analysis lays bare how the extreme, conservative Project 2025 plan is more of the same from conservative leaders – delivering handouts to the wealthy and corporations on the backs of working people,” said Unrig Our Economy spokesperson Kobie Christian. “They want middle-income households to foot the bill for massive tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy, but we know that Americans support raising taxes on the wealthy and corporations and investing in programs that help everyday people. Instead, in 2025, we need to bring an end to extreme tax policy from Republicans and build a fair tax code that invests in working people and families and requires corporations and the wealthy to pay their fair share.”
