NEW ADS: Valiente Action Fund & Unrig Our Economy Launch six-figure Ad Campaign Calling Out Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz for Voting to Cut Medicaid to Give Tax Breaks to Billionaires

Washington D.C — Valiente Action Fund and Unrig Our Economy are launching a new six-figure ad campaign to reach the Latino community about Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz’s (TX-15) votes jeopardizing the health of her constituents and pushing up costs by voting to gut vital programs like Medicaid and SNAP – all so millionaires and billionaires can have yet another tax break. The campaign features two new digital ads that call out Congresswoman De La Cruz for putting billionaires over working-class Texans and urging everyday people to call on her to stop putting billionaires first.

“Latinos are an essential part of the fabric of this country and at Valiente we are committed to reaching out to them and making sure their needs are centered in the national political discussion,” said Tory Gavito, President of Valiente Action Fund. “Our efforts in TX-15 are part of a larger national strategy to engage Latinos and make sure they understand what is at stake for them in Donald Trump’s recently passed budget bill. Under Trump, unemployment stands at a 4-year high, with young Latinos being hit especially hard at 12.6%. We chose to focus on Rep. Monica De La Cruz precisely because Latinos make up a majority of her district, and she is letting them down. Like all of us, Latino families are struggling to simply cover the basics—food, housing, and health care—while giving their kids a chance at a better future. Yet Monica De La Cruz has been with Donald Trump every step of the way, voting to slash Medicaid and food assistance—just to give billionaires more money to play around with. Latino families in her district deserve to know what their representatives in Washington are up to so they can be held to account, and we are committed to that cause.”

“Congresswoman De La Cruz’s vote is a betrayal of the people she was elected to represent,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “By slashing Medicaid and SNAP to enrich billionaires, she’s choosing large corporations and billionaires over the health and well-being of working-class Texans. Our message is clear: Texans deserve leaders who put working people first, not politicians who sell them out to the highest bidder.”
