About Unrig Our Economy

Unrig Our Economy is a campaign to fix the rules of our economy to make it work for working people. We’re fighting for working Americans and holding corporations, their wealthy executives, and the politicians who enable them accountable.

We haven’t gotten here by accident. Corporations and the extremely wealthy have rigged the economy in their favor. With their allies in Congress, they’ve used their influence to push for a tax code that leaves massive corporations paying less than the average, hardworking American. They’ve taken so much power that they can raise prices whenever they want to make bigger profits, leaving working people to foot the bill. At the same time, they’ve changed the rules to take bargaining power away from working people and keep wages from going up.

Our leaders face a choice: are they beholden to the wealthy and corporate elite or are they fighting for everyday working Americans — the people who elected them?

Unrig Our Economy is a merger of Tax March (now Tax the Rich) and Health Care Voter, two coalitions launched in 2017.

Tax March started as a coordinated set of marches on April 15, 2017 involving 125,000 Americans, including 25,000 in Washington, DC. Over five years, Tax March fought against the Trump Tax law that gave more tax breaks to big corporations and the super-rich — and fought for Tax the Rich policies.

Health Care Voter also formed in 2017 to fight against efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and thereby take health care away from millions of Americans. Over the years, Health Care Voter has worked to make prescription drugs more affordable and take on the insurance companies and Big Pharma, which too often profit while families suffer.

Together, Health Care Voter and Tax March bring over 100 coalition partner groups and over 1 million grassroots activists.
