Washington D.C — Since Republicans passed their pro-billionaire tax law this past summer, countless Republicans in Congress have danced around the fact that this law will rip away health care from nearly 15 million Americans over the course of the next decade. And the impact is not just in the future: The harm from this tax law is already reverberating throughout the country. If Congress doesn’t act to protect Americans’ health care soon, over 2 million people will lose their health insurance next year and millions more will face skyrocketing premiums.
According to reporting by Politico, in just the next year, the Republican Tax Law will:
- Leave more than 2 millions Americans without health care next year.
- Jack up monthly ACA insurance premiums from 7% last year to 18% this year.
- Force rural hospitals to rollback services, fire staff, and even close.
But at least a handful of billionaires will get a tax break, right?
