Washington, DC – This Sunday, Americans across the country can expect to pay higher prices for their Super Bowl parties, as Republicans’ tariffs drive up the cost of groceries and party staples nationwide. Despite repeated promises to lower costs, Republicans in Congress have rubberstamped tariffs and advanced other policies that make everyday goods more expensive. Unrig Our Economy’s new video shows how rising costs are translating into higher grocery bills for Super Bowl Sunday.
In 2025, families paid an average of $310 more for groceries than the year before, thanks in part to cost-raising tariffs. This weekend, rising food costs will mean higher prices for Super Bowl Sunday, with a party for 10 people expected to cost $167, a 7.2% increase from last year.
Prices are rising across Super Bowl party favorites, including:
- Beef, up more than 16% from the previous year.
- Shrimp, up 8.1%.
- Meats, poultry, and fish, up 6.9% in the past year.
- Vegetable trays, with cherry tomatoes (2%), celery (2.6%), and broccoli and cauliflower (4%) all seeing price hikes in the past year.
- Non-alcoholic beverages, up 5.1%.
- Beer, up 1.3%.
“For the past year, congressional Republicans have supported tariffs that raise prices and jeopardize Americans’ ability to make ends meet,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Now, Americans celebrating the Super Bowl will once again be met with higher grocery bills because Republicans continue to push cost-raising policies at the expense of working Americans.”
