Congressman Ciscomani and Congresswoman Miller-Meeks Voted to Take Food Off Families’ Tables. New Reporting Shows Their Constituents Are Paying The Price.

Washington, DC – Congressional Republicans’ devastating cuts to SNAP are taking vital food assistance from working Americans, as new reporting from Arizona and Iowa highlights significant declines in the program’s enrollment in both states – a warning sign for millions of working families nationwide. According to new reporting, there has been a 31 percent decline in SNAP enrollment in Arizona in just three months. During that period, the number of children receiving SNAP benefits in Arizona fell by one-third. Meanwhile in Iowa, the number of SNAP recipients dropped by nearly 20,000 people between August 2025 and January of this year. Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) both voted for the largest cuts to SNAP in history in last year’s Republican Tax Law – putting millions of Americans at risk of losing food assistance – all so they could give more tax breaks to billionaires.

Thanks to congressional Republicans’ priorities, tens of thousands of Arizonans and Iowans are now being stripped of food assistance at the same time as Republican-backed tariffs continue to drive up food costs nationwide. It is an ominous sign for how millions of working families will begin to experience these Republican SNAP cuts starting this month. This reporting comes as the House Agriculture Committee prepares to mark up Republicans’ Farm Bill, which fails to address the affordability crisis created by Republicans’ SNAP cuts and cost-raising tariffs.

“Congressman Ciscomani and Congresswoman Miller-Meeks voted for the largest cuts to SNAP in history while supporting tariffs that are raising food prices,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Now, hundreds of thousands of Arizonans and Iowans will struggle to put food on the table because their representatives prioritized tax breaks for billionaires over food for families. It’s time Republicans fix the affordability crisis they created and fully restore SNAP funding.”
