Westchester Mother Speaks Out After Congressman Mike Lawler Lashes Out At her Over His Medicaid Cuts

Westchester resident Tina relies on Medicaid to care for her 103-year-old mother

Washington D.C — Not content to have voted for the largest Medicaid cuts in history, Congressman Mike Lawler lashed out at a Westchester woman terrified that her mother could lose health coverage as a result of that vote.

At a town hall yesterday, the Congressman repeated the debunked claim that his Medicaid cuts won’t affect older Americans and accused Westchester resident Tina of ‘misleading’ people in her ad calling out Congressman Lawler for voting to cut the Medicaid program people like her 103-year-old mother rely on for care.

Medical professionals, non-partisan health care experts, and disability rights advocates all agree that Congressman Lawler’s Medicaid cuts put the health care of seniors and disabled New Yorkers at risk.

“Congressman Mike Lawler promised New Yorkers over and over again that he wouldn’t cut Medicaid – then voted for the biggest Medicaid cut in U.S. history. Instead of attacking me and my family, Congressman Lawler should reverse his health care cuts that are putting the care of people like my mother in jeopardy,” said Tina. “No matter how much the Congressman lashes out, people of New Yorkers are going to keep calling him out for putting our health care on the chopping block.”
