Washington D.C — Today, a new analysis from KFF showed that monthly premiums for ACA health care plans are likely to skyrocket again next year thanks to Republicans in Congress. Republicans in Congress caused these impending rate increases when they chose to end vital health care tax credits that helped millions access basic health care. Nearly four million people have been forced to drop their coverage since the start of the year, and this Republican-caused spike in premiums could kick millions more off their health care in 2027.
This report shows how the skyrocketing cost of health care is exacerbating the Republican affordability crisis. The cost of groceries, food, and gas continues to squeeze working families’ wallets, while cuts to Medicaid and SNAP and tariffs continue to put financial strain on families nationwide. Republicans need to restore the health care tax credits they got rid of to help mitigate this health insurance death spiral and protect their constituents’ checkbooks and wellbeing.
