Washington D.C — New polling from Navigator Research shows Americans overwhelmingly reject the Republican Tax Law, which is raising costs, hurting working families, and only benefiting billionaires and large corporations. This survey also showed that Americans believe the Republican Tax Law has made the economy worse. As Republicans in Congress continue to defend this pro-billionaire agenda, working families just want their representatives to focus on lowering costs, protecting health care, and putting working families first instead of giving more tax breaks to the wealthy.
According to the survey:
- 60% of Americans say the Republican Tax Law has increased their costs, while nearly half say it has been bad for the economy.
- 57% of Americans believe billionaires and large corporations are the biggest beneficiaries of the law, not middle and working class families.
- More than three-quarters of battleground constituents support Medicaid and SNAP, and majorities express concerns about the historic cuts that Republicans made to these programs.
The message is clear: Americans want lower costs and stronger economic security, not politics that leave working people more vulnerable.
“This polling makes clear that Americans see through congressional Republicans’ attempts to whitewash this law because they are living with its consequences every day,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Americans know this law raises costs, threatens their health care, and puts billionaires ahead of working families. Congressional Republicans have a choice: They can continue defending their deeply unpopular law that hurts the working families they represent and prioritizes the ultra-wealthy. Or they can stand with their constituents by rejecting more cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, and focusing on lowering costs and putting working families first.”
