Washington, D.C — Today, Unrig Our Economy is launching several television and digital ads in Iowa’s 2nd congressional district and Texas’ 15th congressional district focused on the burden of higher costs that millions of working families are facing. The Iowa ad is running across digital and TV platforms and features Winneshiek County small business owner Cheryl. In it, she highlights the impact of health care cuts that Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) supported.
Cheryl also discusses a recent $10,000 health care bill she received and Congresswoman Ashley Hinson’s support for ending health care tax credits. Health care will be one of her business’ largest expenses in the coming year, and Iowans across the district will face higher costs thanks to the elimination of health care tax credits that has doubled premiums for many Iowans. Small businesses across Iowa have also raised alarms about the impact of ending ACA tax credits on their ability to make ends meet.
In Texas, Unrig Our Economy is launching English and Spanish-language ads in Texas’ 15th congressional district. The ad notes that Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) voted for the Republican Tax Law, which cut Medicaid and Medicare at a time when South Texas families are already being squeezed by higher prices at the gas pump, grocery store, and doctors office.
“The Republican Tax Law, which Congresswoman Hinson and Congresswoman De La Cruz voted for, cuts health care and food assistance while millions of working families struggle to afford basic necessities,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “These ads highlight the struggles that working families continue to face and show how the Republican Tax Law and ending the health care tax credits are exacerbating America’s affordability crisis.”
