The Campaign Featured Nearly Two Dozen Events Across the Country Calling Out the $3,800 More Americans Are Spending Under Trump & Republicans in Congress
Washington D.C — Throughout August and early September, Unrig Our Economy, Social Security Works, Economic Security Project Action, and local partners from around the country came together as part of nationwide campaign against the ‘Republican Price Tag’ – the $3,800 more that working families are paying under policies supported by congressional Republicans. The campaign featured nearly two dozen in-person events across the country, engaging community members on how they can speak out against policies raising the costs of groceries, gas, health care, and more.
The month-long campaign culminated in a nationwide press call featuring Congressman Don Beyer (VA-08), Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01), Managing Director of Navigator Research, Melissa Toufanian, and small business owners across the country who are feeling the pinch from the Republican Price Tag. This call – along with the numerous events held across the country – touched on how a variety of policies, from tariffs to cuts to Medicaid and SNAP to cuts to energy tax credits, have drained Americans’ wallets and made it more difficult for families to make ends meet.

This campaign featured a wide range of events including back-to-school drives, community potlucks, empty chair townhalls, and press conferences that sought to give voice to working families’ frustration with rising costs. These efforts resulted in over 20 news stories about the ‘Republican Price Tag’ and highlighted how Republican-backed policies have hurt everyone from small business owners to Medicaid and SNAP recipients to families facing skyrocketing energy bills.
