Washington D.C — Newly released data shows that the number of Americans receiving continued unemployment relief reached its highest level since the pandemic – a dire sign for the U.S. economy. This comes as congressional Republican-backed tariffs continue to raise costs on everyday goods and the Republican Tax Law is set to raise the cost of health care, food, and more. Republicans continue to put the super-wealthy first and working-class Americans last.
“Republicans’ tax policies are squeezing working-class Americans’ budgets all for the benefit of the ultra-wealthy,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “The recent joblessness data highlights that Republicans in Congress are leaving working people behind, while doing everything they can to make sure millionaires and billionaires can get another massive tax break.
