Washington D.C — This week, retiring Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE) admitted what working people have known for months: The Republican tariffs he and other congressional Republicans voted to support are harming the economy, telling reporters that tariffs don’t work and are the reason for economic ‘storm clouds on the horizon.’
For once, Congressman Bacon is right. The tariffs he voted to support are raising costs and creating warning signs for the economy – while the Republican Tax Law he voted for will inflict even more pain on working families. All so that congressional Republicans can pay for massive tax breaks for billionaires.

- Employers shed 12,000 manufacturing jobs in August and 33,000 since January.
- A record low number of job seekers are giving up hope of finding a job.
- Iconic American companies like John Deere are laying off hundreds of workers and specifically blaming the Republican tariffs.
- Arkansas farmers are telling Republicans “I have never been as worried as I am now about whether or not my kids and grandkids will be able to carry on,” as they feel the crushing impact of Republican tariffs.
- Americans plan $1/day food budgets to deal with food costs that have been driven up by tariffs (as tracked by DontInflateOurPlates.com).
