BREAKING: Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks Says That Saving Her Constituents’ Health Care is An “Unreasonable Demand”

Washington D.C — In a newly released audio, Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) said that she thinks permanently extending health care tax credits to help her constituents afford health insurance is an “unreasonable demand.” This may explain why Congresswoman Miller-Meeks is joining Republicans in Congress in fighting to keep the government closed – it will make health care more expensive for tens of thousands of Iowans. Without extending these tax credits, 100,000 Iowans will see their health care costs skyrocket by an average of 98% in Miller-Meeks’s district.

“If voting to save her constituents’ health care is an ‘unreasonable demand’ then maybe Congresswoman Miller-Meeks is in the wrong line of work,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “A hundred thousand Iowans rely on these tax credits to afford their health care, and every day that Republicans in Congress refuse to extend them, the threat of higher health care costs becomes more of a reality. Instead of complaining about her job to a reporter, Congresswoman Miller-Meeks should vote to make these health care tax credits permanent and reopen the government.”
