Congressman Rob Bresnahan Can’t Hide His Support For Cost-Raising Tariffs Anymore

By continuing to vote to support tariffs, Congressman Rob Bresnahan is doubling down on raising costs for Pennsylvanians.

Washington, DC – Wednesday, Congressman Rob Bresnahan (PA-08) voted alongside almost all of his House Republican colleagues to keep President Trump’s tariffs on Canada in place, meaning he, once again, voted to keep costs higher for his constituents.

Despite admitting last year that tariffs raise costs and claiming that he would have a “really hard time getting behind” any policies that raise costs for families, Congressman Bresnahan has betrayed his constituents by repeatedly voting to block any opportunities to stop the tariffs. On Wednesday, Bresnahan doubled down by voting for Trump’s Canada tariffs, just days after a new report found that the tariffs overall directly cost households $1,000 last year and are projected to cost Americans even more this year.

“With his vote on Wednesday, Congressman Bresnahan has shown once again that he and his Republican colleagues are more concerned with delivering tax breaks to billionaires than relief to working Americans,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Congressman Bresnahan has repeatedly backed Trump’s harmful tariffs at a time when Pennsylvanians and Americans nationwide are already struggling with rising costs. It’s time he finally stands up for his constituents and stops voting to make their lives less affordable.”
