Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks Just Voted (Again) To Back Tariffs That Raise Costs for Working Families

Washington D.C Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) and nearly all of her Republican colleagues in Congress just voted to keep Trump’s tariffs in place, continuing to endorse the very policy that is raising the costs of groceries, household appliances, and more everyday goods for Iowans and working families nationwide.

Congresswoman Miller-Meeks’ vote comes just days after a new report showed that Americans paid $1,000 more on average in 2025 due to Trump’s tariffs and are on track to lose even more throughout 2026. It proves what we already know – Americans are paying the price because Congresswoman Miller-Meeks and Republicans in Congress have repeatedly voted to let these tariffs continue – all so they can give billionaires even more tax breaks.

“Congresswoman Miller-Meeks has spent her entire time in Congress making life less affordable for Iowa families, and this latest vote to uphold President Trump’s tariffs further underscores that fact,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Whether it’s supporting Trump’s tariffs or slashing Medicaid and SNAP, Congresswoman Miller-Meeks and her Republican colleagues have pushed a singular agenda – make life more expensive for working families so billionaires can get more tax breaks. It’s long past time for Congresswoman Miller-Meeks to change course and stop voting to raise our costs.”
