Despite previously voting to cut job-creating energy tax credits, 13 House Republicans signed a letter urging the Senate to preserve them – will those same House Republicans actually do it with today’s vote?
Washington, D.C. — Today, House Republicans are voting to make changes to their tax scam before sending it to the Senate. This vote comes after 13 House Republicans, including Rep. Rob Bresnahan (PA-08), Rep. Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), Rep. Mike Lawler (NY-17), Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (NJ-07), and Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) signed a letter late last week urging Senate Republicans to preserve the job-creating clean energy tax credits…even though they all voted to cut those same tax credits, threatening jobs in their districts and raising energy costs on their own constituents. This is on top of other provisions in the tax scam that rip away health care and SNAP benefits from millions of working families, all to give massive tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires.
“Every House Republican that signed on to last week’s letter claims that they want to make changes to the Republican Tax Scam that they already voted for,” said Unrig Our Economy spokesperson Kobie Christian. “While House Republicans are making edits to their own tax plan they should remember the letter that they signed just last week and take this opportunity to lower costs, protect hundreds of thousands of jobs they now claim to care about, and put an end to this harmful agenda that puts billionaires over working families.”
