Washington, DC — Despite backing a war and jacking up gas prices, congressional Republicans still found time to slash our jobs.
The February Jobs Report released on Friday shows the economy lost 92,000 jobs last month. Yet another example of Republican policies wreaking havoc on working families.
New data in the report also shows the economy lost 17,000 jobs in December 2025, making last year the first time in 15 years the economy had five months of job losses. These numbers come as Americans continue to face skyrocketing costs on everything from food to gas to health care, thanks to congressional Republicans. Despite Republicans’ repeated promises to create jobs and lower costs, it’s clear their agenda of rubber stamping tariffs and slashing health care to give tax breaks to billionaires are having the opposite effect.
According to the report:
- Unemployment increased to 4.4 percent in February
- 12,000 manufacturing jobs were lost
- 11,000 transportation and warehousing jobs were lost
- 11,000 information services jobs were lost
“This is the Republican economy: fewer jobs, higher costs, and no relief for working Americans,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Republicans have spent the past year supporting policies that drive up costs while taking jobs away, and lavishing even more tax breaks on the wealthy. This report is just the latest example of how their billionaire-first agenda is hurting working Americans.”
