Washington D.C — New polling from Navigator Research shows Americans overwhelmingly believe President Trump and congressional Republicans’ tariffs are raising their costs and support the recent Supreme Court decision striking down many of those tariffs. Now, Republicans in Congress are in the spotlight as Trump imposes new tariffs. Not only do Republicans need to reject these new tariffs, but Americans need them to deliver full refunds to families that paid the price. Will congressional Republicans continue to support these cost-raising tariffs, or will they stand up for their constituents, vote to end these tariffs, and push for full refunds as millions of people face rising prices?
According to the survey, 70% of Americans say Trump’s tariffs are increasing the cost of basic necessities, including 41% who say tariffs are making costs go up “a lot.” Additionally, 59% of respondents shared that they view tariffs unfavorably, and 62% also agreed with the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down many of Trump’s tariffs. Americans want these cost-raising tariffs gone, but Republicans in Congress keep siding with President Trump and making families pay the price. They need to stop backing tariffs and pay working families back the money that their tariffs illegally took from us.
“This polling clearly shows that Americans know tariffs are a tax on working families, and they’re tired of Republicans in Congress who claim to want to fight inflation while consistently backing policies that raise prices,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “With Americans across the country feeling increasingly frustrated by Republicans’ tariffs driving up our costs, the message to Congress is clear: end Trump’s tariffs and give working people their hard-earned money back.
