NEW AD: Constituents Slam Congressman Juan Ciscomani For Cutting Health Care Programs Arizonans Rely On & Shutting the Government Down

Washington D.C — Today, Unrig Our Economy released a new ad where Congressman Juan Ciscomani’s (AZ-06) own constituents call him out for voting to cut Medicaid and endanger the health care Arizona families rely on. Earlier this year, Congressman Ciscomani promised that he wouldn’t vote to cut Medicaid, and then voted for those cuts anyway – all to give more tax breaks to billionaires.

Now, Republicans in Congress are jeopardizing health care yet again. Congressman Ciscomani and his Republican colleagues are refusing to help millions of Americans afford their health care and extend vital health care tax credits – causing a government shutdown.

In the ad, all three Tucson residents highlight how Congressman Ciscomani’s vote to cut Medicaid could affect the health care coverage Arizona families rely on – all to pay for massive tax breaks for billionaires. Mary shares how she’d be unable to afford her medical bills without Medicaid’s support. Garrett highlights how Medicaid has helped him pay for the physical therapy he relies on as a result of his cerebral palsy. Andre discusses how Ciscomani’s cuts to health care put a strain on families. The ad urges Congressman Ciscomani to stop taking health care away from Arizonans and end the government shutdown.

“Congressman Juan Ciscomani promised not to cut Medicaid. He then turned around and voted for the largest Medicaid cut in history. Now, he helped cause the government shutdown, by refusing to make Arizonans’ health care more affordable,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “He’s betrayed Arizonans like Mary, Garrett, and Andre, and he’s continuing to threaten the health care that millions of Arizonans rely on. Congressman Ciscomani must prioritize Arizonans’ health care and end the government shutdown.”
