NEW ADS: Unrig Our Economy Calls Out Congressman Juan Ciscomani For Voting To Cut Medicare and Medicaid to Give Tax Breaks to Billionaires

Washington D.C — Today, Unrig Our Economy is launching new ads on TV and Spanish-language radio in Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District, calling out Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) for voting to cut Medicaid and Medicare so he can hand billionaires yet another massive tax break. These ads highlight how health care cuts in the Republican Tax Scam would cause irreparable harm, leaving 16 million Americans and up to 450,000 Arizonans without health insurance, as showcased in stories from two of Congressman Ciscomani’s constituents, Mary and Andreina, who are featured in the ads.

“Arizonans, like Mary and Andreina’s grandma, need Congressman Ciscomani to prioritize their health care needs over the wants of the super-rich,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “These ads focus on just how important Medicaid and Medicare are to working- and middle-class Arizonans who rely on these programs to keep their families healthy. No one should have to worry about falling behind on medical bills because Republicans in Congress decided to line billionaires’ pockets with even more tax giveaways. Congressman Ciscomani needs to fight for his constituents and the needs of everyday Arizonans – not the ultra-wealthy.”

I used to be someone who could get around.

But I’ve really been struggling the past few years.

Without Medicaid, I wouldn’t be able to afford my medical bills.

It’s a lot of money every month.

Hundreds of dollars.

Congressman Juan Ciscomani voted for massive cuts to Medicaid, right here in Arizona.

To pay for tax breaks for billionaires.

Losing Medicaid would be devastating for me.

I just don’t know how I could afford to live.

We have to stand up against cuts to our health care.

Ad Transcript (Spanish):

Me llamo Andreína.

My name is Andreína.

My family immigrated to Arizona when I was just two years old.

We are a really tight-knit family,

And we look after each other no matter what.

Especially for my 97-year-old grandma – the whole family comes together to take care of her.

She relies on us.

But without the help of Medicare, I’m not sure what we would do to pay the medical bills.

As she gets older, the doctor’s visits and health scares are more frequent.

And I know families just like mine are going through the same things we are.

That’s why I don’t understand why our Congressman, Juan Ciscomani, just voted to cut Medicare, while giving tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.

Putting parents and grandparents, like mine, at risk.

Call Congressman Juan Ciscomani at (520) 881-3588

And tell him to stop voting for cuts to Medicare in order to fund tax breaks for billionaires.
