NEW ADS: Unrig Our Economy Launches New Ads Calling Out Congressman Juan Ciscomani and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks For Voting For the Largest Cut to Medicaid in History

Washington D.C — Today, Unrig Our Economy is launching new ads calling out Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks’s (IA-01) decision to prioritize billionaires over working-class Americans by voting for the Republican Tax Law. Their votes threaten to leave 17 million Americans without the health care they rely on. The new ads feature Garrett and Maria – constituents of Congressman Ciscomani and Congresswoman Miller-Meeks, respectively – whose personal stories highlight how vital Medicaid is for tens of millions of Americans.

“Republicans in Congress who voted to gut Medicaid might not feel the dangerous ramifications of their decision, but their constituents and millions of working-class Americans will,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “This law will strip health insurance from millions, hike costs for routine doctor appointments and prescriptions, and increase medical debt – all so Republicans in Congress can hand out tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy. These ads remind Congressman Ciscomani and Congresswoman Miller-Meeks that they should be standing up for their constituents – not millionaires and billionaires.”

Ad Transcript:

My mom, she’s a hard worker.

She doesn’t want me to go through the same struggles she had to go through.

When I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy,

I had to get numerous surgeries,

I had to go through physical therapy.

And AHCCCS paid for all of that.

Congressman Juan Ciscomani voted for a bill that will cut Medicaid, or specifically AHCCCS, and other essential programs.

He’s going after people who need it the most.

Congressman Juan Ciscomani is just so disconnected from what’s really affecting people here in Arizona.

Ad Transcript:

When I got COVID, I didn’t want to go to the hospital because I didn’t want to be a burden.

I ended up in a coma for 12 days.

But I had Medicaid to help cover the cost.

And it saved my life.

I’m so angry that Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks just voted for the largest cut to Medicaid in history to give tax breaks to billionaires.

Iowans need health care.

Billionaires don’t need another tax break.

Call Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

Tell her to stop voting to take away Medicaid.
