Washington D.C — Today, Unrig Our Economy released new ads calling out Congressman Tom Kean Jr. (NJ-07) and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) for their votes to trade millions of Americans’ health care for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and put the livelihoods of New Jersey and Iowa families at risk. The ads feature Roseanne and Maria, two constituents who felt betrayed by their representatives’ decision to vote to cut Medicaid.
The ads come on the heels of warnings from the National Rural Health Association and the Children’s Hospital Association that health care facilities across the country are facing dire situations thanks to the Republican Tax Law’s Medicaid cuts.
“The Republican Tax Law is callously gutting rural health systems, taking money from children’s hospitals, and hurting the working families Congressman Kean and Congresswoman Miller-Meeks are supposed to fight for,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Instead of standing up for their communities, Kean and Miller-Meeks voted to slash the Medicaid their constituents count on, just to bankroll more tax breaks for billionaires. Now, Roseanne and Maria are showing New Jersey and Iowa families exactly how damaging this law is on their health and their wallets.”
