Washington D.C — Today, Unrig Our Economy released new ads calling out Congressman Tom Kean Jr. (NJ-07) and Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) for their votes to trade millions of Americans’ health care for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy – a “Reverse Robin Hood” that takes from the most vulnerable to give to the rich. The ads feature Theresa and Billy, two constituents who were betrayed by their representatives’ decision to vote to cut Medicaid.
“Medicaid is a lifeline for families across the country, one that Republicans in Congress are cutting because they want to bankroll billionaires,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Congressman Kean Jr. and Congresswoman Miller-Meeks just robbed working families of life-saving medical care to help the rich get even richer. Their own constituents are speaking out and urging them to stop prioritizing billionaires over the lives of children in need.”

As a parent of two disabled children, the support we get from Medicaid is paving the path for my sons to have futures.
People think we’re getting luxuries.
We’re not.
We’re getting vaccines, eye exams, dental, preventative care.
Congressman Tom Kean said he would protect Medicaid.
But he voted to cut it.
I don’t know how Congressman Tom Kean can sleep at night, knowing that he voted to cut the future of thousands of his own constituents.
