New KFF Report Shows Republicans Are Ripping Coverage Away From Their Own Constituents

The Report Shows That Millions of Americans Will Lose Health Coverage Thanks to Republicans in Congress

Washington D.C — According to a new KFF analysis of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) figures, we now know how many people will lose health insurance in each state thanks to congressional Republicans’ tax law that slashes Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act and raises the cost of health insurance for working people. These policies will hurt millions of Americans nationwide – all so Republicans can give billionaires another tax break.

Republicans in Congress are betraying their own constituents. In fact, some of the states that will see the highest increase in their uninsured rates include:

  • Louisiana – 330,000 people are set to lose their health insurance
  • Florida – 1.5 million people are set to lose their health insurance
  • Arizona – 420,000 people are set to lose their health insurance
  • Arkansas – 140,000 people are set to lose their health insurance
  • Kentucky – 220,000 people are set to lose their health insurance

“This new analysis shows that Republicans in Congress are willing to throw millions of Americans under the bus – including their own constituents – if it means their billionaire buddies get another tax break,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “By passing their tax law that raises health insurance costs and kicks millions off their coverage, Republicans have shown that they are set on putting billionaires first and working-class families last. We all need to come together to hold them accountable and stop these attacks on everyday families.”
