Republicans Tap Professional Corporate Tax Dodging Consultant to Manage Implementation of Their Pro-Billionaire Tax Law

Washington, D.C — Not content to simply pass more tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations, Republicans have installed Ken Kies – a career lobbyist who has spent decades helping the ultra-wealthy and large corporations dodge taxes – to oversee the Treasury Department office responsible for implementing their new tax law. Non-partisan analyses have shown the bill could lead to roughly 17 million Americans losing their health care while delivering massive giveaways to billionaires and big corporations.

The choice of Kies for this critical role further highlights the essence of the Republican Tax Law: rewarding corporations and the ultra-rich at the expense of working-class families.

“By putting a professional tax dodging consultant in charge of their tax law, Republicans are continuing to make their intentions crystal clear – this law is a gift to billionaires and huge corporations like those Ken Kies has spent his career looking out for,” said Leor Tal, Campaign Director for Unrig Our Economy. “As families struggle with rising prices from Trump’s tariffs and face devastating cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, Republicans are doubling down on helping the richest of the rich, while working people pay the price.”
