Washington, D.C. — This week, President Trump instigated the largest tax hike on working- and middle-class Americans in decades, which is already wreaking havoc on the U.S. economy, costing American jobs, and threatening even higher prices on everyday goods. The tariffs are an all-around catastrophe for working families, who could face nearly $4,000 in additional costs per year. Republicans in Congress can easily stop these cost-raising tariffs whenever they want, but instead, they’re enabling them.
What’s even worse is that they are allowing these tariffs to raise prices on working families because they are planning to use the revenue to fund another tax break for millionaires and billionaires. That means that every price hike, job loss, and 401k collapse that everyday Americans could face due to these tariffs is happening to line the pockets of billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Elon Musk.
