Washington D.C — Republicans in Congress have less than one month to extend health care tax credits before health insurance premiums increase dramatically for millions of Americans. However, while Republicans continue to avoid saving their constituents’ health care, House Democrats have proposed a concrete plan – a discharge petition to advance a three-year extension to these cost-saving tax credits.
“If Republicans in Congress truly cared about lowering costs for their constituents, they would swallow their pride and sign on to the discharge petition to force a vote on extending health care tax credits,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Republicans in Congress have spent months attacking Americans’ access to health care while giving tax breaks to billionaires. Now, it is time that they finally put their constituents first, sign on to the discharge petition to extend these health care tax credits, and stop voting to undermine access to health care for millions of Americans.”
