This Tax Day, Unrig Our Economy’s Ads Are Holding Congressional Republicans Accountable While They Double Down on Putting Tax Breaks for Billionaires & Corporations Over Health Care for Families

Washington, DC – This Tax Day, billionaires and big corporations are able to better avoid paying their fair share of taxes than ever before, thanks to congressional Republicans’ tax law – and working Americans are paying the price. Over the past year, Unrig Our Economy has consistently run ads holding congressional Republicans accountable for voting for the largest cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in history and getting rid of crucial health care tax credits to bankroll tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. They’ve done all of this while backing tariffs that are raising the cost of food and every day items.

Their votes have resulted in skyrocketing health insurance premiums and put an estimated 15 million Americans at risk of losing health care coverage – all so billionaires can get even richer. In 2026 alone, the richest one percent are projected to receive $117 billion in tax breaks, while corporations are paying $234 billion less in taxes because of Republicans’ tax law.

Republicans in Congress are slated to vote today on a resolution doubling down on their support for the tax law. Families are struggling to get by, and instead of finding ways to make life more affordable, congressional Republicans are busy congratulating themselves for raising their costs to bankroll tax breaks for the one percent.

Unrig Our Economy’s ongoing eight-figure paid media campaign highlights the impact of these cuts on working families. The ads, which are compiled below, call out members of Congress, including Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01), Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02), Congressman Tom Kean Jr. (NJ-07), Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17), Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (TX-15) and Congressman Rob Bresnahan (PA-08) for prioritizing tax breaks for billionaires over health care for their constituents.

“Republicans in Congress voted to rip health care away from millions of Americans so billionaires and big corporations could get even more tax breaks. Now, to add insult to injury, they’re voting to pat themselves on the back for gutting health care and raising their constituents’ costs,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “While the richest of the rich are celebrating this Tax Day, working families are worrying how they’re going to afford their medical bills. Unrig Our Economy’s ads are holding congressional Republicans accountable for this harmful billionaire-first, families-last agenda.”
