Trick, Not Treat: New Ads Haunt Congressmen Rob Bresnahan and Juan Ciscomani for Raising the Cost of Halloween

Candy prices have jumped by as much as 30% since 2024

Washington D.C — Today, Unrig Our Economy released new ads calling out Congressmen Rob Bresnahan (PA-08) and Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) for rubberstamping Republican tariffs that are raising the costs of Halloween candy – along with nearly everything else to fund tax breaks for billionaires.

Both Congressmen Bresnahan and Ciscomani have repeatedly voted to protect the tariffs that the Yale Budget Lab found are set to cost families an additional nearly $2,000 per year.

New data released this week shows that candy prices have increased by more than 10% across the board, with some chocolate products increasing by 20% in cost since last year, and that Republican tariffs are the key culprit behind the rising prices.

“These tariffs are no treat for working families,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “Congressmen Rob Bresnahan and Juan Ciscomani have turned Halloween into another horror show for parents who just want to buy candy for their kids. Their votes may please party bosses and the wealthy billionaires they give tax breaks to, but Congressmen Bresnahan and Ciscomani are leaving working families holding the empty candy bag.”
