Trump Event Can’t Hide the Truth: Americans HATE the Republican Tax Scam

A Majority of Americans Oppose The Tax Scam. And They’re Not Being Quiet About It.

Washington D.C — Today, while President Trump hosts an event at the White House to drum up support for the Republican Tax Scam, the Americans his bill would hurt are ringing the alarm about the real harm the bill will bring to millions of Americans – all to pay for tax breaks for the super-rich. President Trump and Congressional Republicans are trying (and failing) to create a false narrative that working-class Americans support the bill. Yet, poll after poll shows that a majority of Americans oppose the bill and think it will hurt them personally. As Senate Republicans are set to vote on their tax scam this weekend and House Republicans will have to take up the bill again, they should keep that reality in mind and vote against this pro-billionaire agenda.

But they don’t need to take our word for it. They can just listen to their own constituents:

Here’s Vanessa Chavez Jurado, a constituent of Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02), telling her family’s story on the importance of Medicaid:

“My family never thought that we would need to rely on Medicaid, but when my sister suffered an unexpected brain aneurysm followed by a stroke, Medicaid got us through tough times,” said Vanessa Chavez Jurado, a constituent of Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02). “Now Republicans in Congress want to jeopardize that for millions of Americans, so they can give the richest of the richest people in the country another tax break? We need Republicans to listen to stories like ours and stand up for families like mine, not millionaires and billionaires.”

“Working families shouldn’t be pawns in a game to help Republicans give tax breaks to billionaires,” said Theresa Luoni, a constituent of Congressman Tom Kean Jr. (NJ-07). “Instead they should listen to us when we tell them our stories. My twin boys are autistic. Our family relies on Medicaid for their medical care, school services, and therapies, and even then we are still scraping by. Republicans in Congress shouldn’t pull the rug out from under us, so that some rich people can get a tax break.”
