Unrig Our Economy Kicks Offs Seven-Figure Ad Campaign Holding Reps. Duarte, Molinaro, and Williams Accountable for Voting for McCarthy’s Default On America Act

The ads will run in CA-13, NY-19, and NY-22

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On the heels of the Treasury Department’s announcement that Republicans in Congress will cause a default on June 1, Unrig Our Economy is starting a seven-figure television and streaming ad campaign in three Congressional districts, urging members of Congress not to default on the debt or force working people to eat the cost of tax breaks for the wealthy.

The new seven-figure ad campaign spotlights Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19), Rep. Brandon Williams (NY-22), and Rep. John Duarte (CA-13), who were the deciding votes in favor of Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s Default on America Act. The ads will educate citizens about how this impacts their daily lives — increased day-to-day costs and slashing the things working people rely on. The ads in CA-13 will run in the Fresno media market, which overlaps with Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s district.

In response, Unrig Our Economy campaign director Sarah Baron issued the following statement:

“Last week, House Republicans voted to protect tax breaks for the rich and big corporations while increasing rent, health care, and utility costs and gutting benefits for children and veterans. Their constituents need to know that when given the choice, these members of Congress chose corporations and the wealthy over them, as they barrel the nation toward defaulting on our bills. They’ve made it crystal clear that Republican party politics and the rich take priority over the livelihood and safety of the people who put them in office.”

When it came to preventing America from defaulting on its debt…

John Duarte had two options.

Make the rich pay their fair share…

Or back his party to hike up costs and slash things we depend on…

Here’s what his vote means…

Higher rent, health care, and utility costs

Duarte even slashed funding to veterans.

All while protecting tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.

So tell John Duarte: Don’t default on the debt and make us pay the price
