Unrig Our Economy Launches Ad Campaign Trolling Corporate-Sponsored “Tax Prom” Event
Washington, D.C. – As corporate executives, lobbyists, members of Congress, and their staff arrive at the Tax Foundation’s closed-door “Tax Prom” event, they will be greeted by Unrig Our Economy’s latest ads. The ads shed light on just how much the big corporations sponsoring the prom gained from the 2017 Trump Tax Law. The Tax Foundation has been a long-time supporter of President-elect Donald Trump’s massive tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and corporations.
The ads – which will be displayed on a mobile billboard truck that will circle Capitol Hill and greet guests as they arrive at the Anthem for Tax Prom – call out some of the biggest corporations and Tax Prom event sponsors, who received nearly $25 BILLION in tax cuts as a result of the 2017 Trump Tax Law, including:
- $12.3 BILLION to Walmart
- $10 BILLION to AT&T
- $1.5 BILLION to Amazon
- And over $80 MILLION in refunds to T-Mobile
President-elect Trump and congressional Republicans have made it clear that one of their first priorities in 2025 will be to extend and expand their 2017 tax law, which gave handouts to corporations and the ultra-wealthy and threatened programs everyday people rely on.
“Tonight, corporate lobbyists will schmooze with members of Congress and their staff and plot to extend and expand the 2017 Trump Tax Law to give more massive handouts to corporations. Members of Congress should be taking their cues from their constituents, not their corporate donors,” said Unrig Our Economy spokesperson Kobie Christian. “Corporations who continue to jack up our prices don’t need more tax cuts from President-elect Trump and Republicans in Congress. Everyday people want lower costs and money back in their pockets and corporations to pay their fair share. That’s what Republicans should be fighting for – not extending the Trump Tax Cuts.”
