Unrig Our Economy Launches New Ads Urging Congressional Republicans to Oppose Trump’s Tariffs That Will Make March Madness Parties Pricier

Republicans plan to use the tariffs to fund tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires

Washington, D.C. — Today, as March begins and the NCAA college basketball tournaments are right around the corner, Unrig Our Economy is launching a series of March Madness themed radio ads as part of its eight-figure campaign to combat President Trump and congressional Republicans’ plans to raise prices via tariffs to help fund more tax breaks for billionaires. Some of these cost-raising tariffs are expected to go into effect next week.

The radio ads, which are running in Iowa, Arizona, Nebraska, and New York, call out Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01), Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02), and Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) who voted this week for a plan to cut taxes for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations while making their constituents pay the price. The ads urge them to stand up to Trump’s tariffs and not raise costs for families.

“With March Madness right around the corner, Americans filling out their brackets and planning watch parties will have to brace themselves when Republicans’ tariffs raise the price of everything from soda to guacamole and more,” said Unrig Our Economy spokesperson Kobie Christian. “Rather than addressing the skyrocketing cost of living, House Republicans spent this week advancing a bill that will make their constituents pay more for everyday necessities like food and health care – all to pay for tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires. Americans need their representatives to stand up for them, not the ultra-rich.”

These new radio ads will run in Iowa, Arizona, Nebraska, and New York.
