Unrig Our Economy Re-Launches Interactive Website To Track How Much Republican Policies Are Increasing Holiday Grocery Prices

Don’t Inflate Our Plates” to Highlight How Trump and Congressional Republicans’ Tariffs Are Raising Prices on Working Families

Washington, D.C — Today, Unrig Our Economy re-launched Don’t Inflate Our Plates for the holidays with interactive price tracking of key grocery items and how President Trump’s tariffs – backed by Republicans in Congress – are making it even harder for working families to afford everyday groceries, especially during the holiday season.

Originally launched in July, the data set now includes pork, corn, beef and other holiday staples.

As families across the country gather to celebrate the holidays, they’re getting an extra helping of the higher prices congressional Republicans have been shoving down their throats all year. From beef and pork to corn, prices continue to rise – and “Don’t Inflate Our Plates” connects those cost hikes directly to policy choices by Republicans in Congress. Their tariffs and their tax law, which slashed SNAP funding to pay for billionaire tax breaks, are making food even less affordable for millions of Americans who are already struggling to feed their families.

This newly relaunched interactive website features real-time grocery price data, state-by-state price insights, and accessible storytelling that reveals how Trump’s tariffs and the congressional Republicans’ economic agenda are raising costs for working-class families while funding tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. That includes many of the same corporations that have inflated prices consumers pay at the checkout aisle.

“Trump and Republicans in Congress are inflating the cost of Americans’ holiday dinner plates,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “While billionaires and corporations cash in on Republican-backed tax breaks, working-class families are left paying higher prices for beef, pork, and corn thanks to Republican billionaire tax breaks, tariffs, and SNAP cuts. Don’t Inflate Our Plates calls out the Republican scrooges driving up the costs of holiday family meals.”

According to Liz Pancotti, the Managing Director of Policy and Advocacy for Groundwork Collaborative, which has been documenting how prices have risen for Back to School staples, Halloween candy, Thanksgiving dinner, and holiday gifts, “This holiday season, prices are up at the toy store, the grocery store, and everywhere in between. According to our recent analysis, prices for popular gifts are up 26%. Trump’s reckless economic agenda is delivering nothing but a lump of coal to American families.”
