Congressman Bacon Announces Retirement From Congress 9 Hours After Complaining About Unrig Our Economy On Twitter
Washington D.C — Congressman Don Bacon had his allies send threatening letters. He pouted online. He even lashed out at Unrig Our Economy in angry tweets.
But after voting to rip health insurance away from 40,000 Nebraskans, Congressman Bacon knew he was done.
After running ad after ad after ad after ad after ad after ad highlighting Congressman Bacon’s betrayal of his constituents and organizing working people from his district to Washington DC after Bacon refused to meet them face-to-face back home, Unrig our Economy has another message for Bacon as multiple outlets report his decision to retire from Congress.
“We hope Congressman Bacon has an easier time finding health care than the 40,000 Nebraskans he voted to rip health coverage away from,” said Unrig Our Economy Campaign Director Leor Tal. “When the Tax Scam returns to the House, Congressman Bacon has one more opportunity to do the right thing and finally vote against cuts to Medicaid and SNAP programs his constituents rely on. We will continue to call on Congressman Bacon to vote for an economy that works for working people – not just millionaires and billionaires – for the rest of this term in Congress.”
